Gardaí seized two Toyota Land Cruiser Jeeps, eight Ifor Williams trailers, a Pageant series six mobile home, a Honda generator and a power washer on Thursday as part of a Criminal Assets Bureau search operation in Wexford.

A 58-year-old man was arrested and detained at Enniscorthy Garda station as part of the operation and has since been released without charge.

The search operation was conducted in conjunction with Wexford Revenue Customs Division, the Regional Armed Support Unit South Eastern Region and the Detective Branch of Enniscorthy Garda Station.

4x4 thefts

There has been a spike in the theft of 4x4 vehicles this year.

In April, gardaí seized 10 vehicles including jeeps from a gang in Cork who used various paving, gardening and landscaping businesses to target elderly people and deceive them of money.

CAB officers and other garda divisions carried out 11 searches in total on 17 April.

Among the 10 seized vehicles were a 181 Toyota Hilux, 2015 a Toyota Hilux (UK registration), a 191 Toyota Land Cruiser, a 181 Ford Focus Sport, a 191 Ford Focus, a 172 Ford Transit pick-up and a 162 Kia.
